A Ukrainian university offers the technology of reinforced ceramic-metal composites based on titanium with unique relationship of physical and mechanical properties which provide 4 time higher operational characteristics than analogs. The technology also allows producing reinforced powders for 3D printing. The university is looking for manufacturing agreement with industrial partners for joint production or technical cooperation agreement with academia for new applications of the technology.

 

Description     

Today’s industrial development is needed of investigation and application of new technologies and materials which capable for working in extreme operating conditions.

Proposed technology includes producing of reinforced ceramic-metal composite and subsequent thermal-deformation processing, and is the subject of know-how of the client. The titanium sponge is proposed as the main initial material. Due to this fact as well as absence of multistage thermal treatment and expansive dopants the cost of such material is much lower of the analogs.

The unique properties of such material allow to use it as the wear proof knives for cutting paper, cardboard, rubber, textile, etc. Moreover proposed material could be used as structural and wear proof instead steel and titanium alloys for airspace and other industries.

The projected operational properties are confirmed by industrial tests.

Using of the proposed technology and materials allows reducing the consumption of natural resources, energy consumption and capital costs per unit of production as well as the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

It is also proposed to use reinforced metal-ceramic powders for the production of products by Additive Manufacturing (AM) methods which allow producing of complex shape parts without complex and expensive machining.

The university has extensive experience in working with different classes of materials, especially materials for extreme operating conditions. There are experienced staff and laboratory facilities for obtaining and studying the properties of materials.

The university is looking for partners in industry and business who are interested in using of the technology and products described in the profile in framework of the manufacturing agreement, and also invite research organizations and business structures to search for new applications of developed technologies and materials under the technical cooperation agreement.

 

Type and Role of Partner Sought    

The University is looking for partners in industry and business interested in using of the technology and products described in the profile in framework of the manufacturing agreement.

Proposed fields of application: cutting tools, high strength corrosion-resistant structural parts, armor plates, etc.

Possible options for cooperation with partners in industry and business:

- Production of products of the desired profile from composite material for the needs of the partner organization;

- Production of composite material for the subsequent production of various products by the partner organization;

- Production of composite material and products of the desired profile on the production capacities of the partner organization.

The University also invites research organizations and business structures for searching of new applications of developed technologies and materials under the technical cooperation agreement.

The particular interest are for organizations operating in the field of additive manufacturing using metal and ceramic powders, which have equipment for 3D printing such as Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Selective Laser Melting (SLM).
